Familes Say Goodbye for Now to U of I Students

CHAMPAIGN-URBANA -- For families with Freshman at the University of Illinois, Thursday marks the next big step in life: move-in day.

Thousands of families travel to campus to help their students get settled and it can be an all day affair.

But, it's not just family's doing all of the unloading, I-Guides are helping unpack all of the boxes.

Signs are posted to help folks get to the right resident hall and parking lot.

Even though the day is filled with excitement for what's ahead, for parents sending off their child is a little sad.

Luckily modern technology can help keep them in contact.

Families say they will use Skype and text message to keep in touch.

Students say they are eager to meet new people and experience the social perks of being away at school.

More students will move in over the weekend before classes start on Monday.
