'Late Show' Announcer Records IL Radio Spots
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- Radio listeners may recognize a familiar voice in messages promoting disaster preparedness in Illinois.
The Illinois Emergency Management Agency announced Wednesday that Alan Kalter, the voice of "Late Show with David Letterman," has recorded two radio spots. In addition to show announcer, Kalter participates in comedy sketches on the show.
IEMA Director Jonathon Monken says Kalter's voice will capture listeners' attention, reaching more people with the message of planning ahead for disasters.
Kalter talks in the spots about not only having an emergency supply kit and a disaster plan, but also practicing that plan.
The messages will air on more than 200 radio stations across the state. The campaign is aired in cooperation with the Illinois Broadcasters Association Public Education Partnership program.
