New Standard of Dress to Start in Fall

DANVILLE -- Danville students in kindergarten through 12th grade will now have new clothing standards.

The standards vary slightly from school to school but includes a ban on denim.

Students will wear collared shirts in specific colors based on what school they attend.

School officials say they are working with vendors to be sure clothing will be accessible to everyone.

The district will be sending the new dress code information out in the near future.

Officials approved the measure at a board meeting last night.

It  passed with a 4-3 vote with a lot of discussion on what the standard for clothing should be.

The new standard will take effect this fall and the school board plans to evaluate the success of the new standard after the first year.
