City Plans to Develop $300,000 Land

DANVILLE -- For three-hundred thousand dollars the City of Danville has bought three properties on West Main Street coming as a surprise to some residents but Mayor Scott Eisenhauer says it will be good for the city long-term.

The city has been eyeing the land for years and now plans to develop it but, with talks of budget gaps and cuts, the community wonders how the city could pay for lots.

The Mayor says the money came from the sale of other land, "It's a one time revenue source coming in with the sale of property.  It's a one time expenditure buying property for what we hope will be economic development providing long term fiscal sustainability opportunities."

He adds in the long-term developing the land will bring in more tax dollars to the city reducing the likelihood services would be cut.

if new businesses move onto the property the city could be able to collect more sales tax dollars to support city departments.
