In recognition of Black History Month we take a look at the challenges African Americans face in tracing their heritage. Genealogy, the research of family history has become a growing trend in the United States. African Americans have had a difficult time tracing their ancestry because of a lack of information about families before and after the end of slavery in America. Now genetics is helping open up the past and getting answers that we could never find online or in a book.
