Ill. High School Teacher's Death Ruled A Homicide

ORLAND PARK, Ill. (AP) -- A longtime suburban Chicago high school teacher's death has been ruled a homicide.

The Cook County medical examiner ruled Wednesday that 61-year-old Al Filan died of multiple stab wounds. Filan was a business teacher at Brother Rice High School.

Police found Filan dead on the kitchen floor in his Orland Park home on Tuesday morning. Police made a well-being check when he didn't report to work.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Filan taught at Brother Rice for more than 30 years and was a soccer coach. The school put out at statement saying he will be "fondly missed."
