Police Offer Halloween Safety Tips

DANVILLE -- Halloween is this Thursday so police are offering tips to keep trick-or-treaters safe.

More car and pedestrian accidents are reported during Halloween festivities and police want everyone to pay close attention to the roads.

They say always use a cross walk and never cross the street between cars.

Parents are asked to be mindful of the costumes their children are wearing as falls are common.

Swap out masks for make-up and use flame-resistant material with reflective tape.

Police also ask those who are handing out candy to turn on their porch light.

Trick-or-treating is for kids twelve and under and they should be accompanied by adults or travel in groups of three of four.

Police say they'll be out during the trick-or-treat hours to be sure everyone is staying safe.
