Leaf Burning Allowed in City

DANVILLE -- Fire officials say burning leaves is allowed within the city limits but there are strict guidelines to follow to keep you and your property safe.

Officials say the burning is for leaves only.

No twigs or branches, trash or anything else can be burned and leaf burning is only allowed between sunrise and sunset.

If burning leaves out in the open -- you must be at least fifty feet away from any structure, fifteen feet away if burning in a metal trash can.

Officials add, pay attention to the weather conditions.

A responsible adult must be present with some form of garden hose or extinguisher ready if the fire gets out of hand.

No burning on a public street, alley or sidewalk is allowed.

Fire officials say don't do anything that if your neighbor did, you'd be upset about.
