HALO Project Holds Health and Safety Fair

For the eighth year the HALO Project has used Danville's Village Mall to make back to school just a little easier for parents and students.

The Presence United Samaritans Medical Center foundation's initiative works to bring experts on a number of health and safety issues under one roof.

It may look like just a bunch of fun and games, but this fair aims to make life heathier and safer for parents and children in Vermilion County.

"Education is everything. If you're not taught something then you don't know you're supposed to do that." said HALO Project director Kathyn Richard.

That's why the HALO Project health committee works not only set up parents with information on where they can find doctors, but they also strive to teach children about healthy lifestyles.

"Hopefully what they learn here, what they see here will help them grow up into a healthy adult." Richard said.

The kids learned about everything from nutrition and exercise, to how to deal with bullying in school.
