Vermilion Manor Employees Lose Jobs After Sale

VERMILION COUNTY -- It's been a long process but the paperwork is finally finished and Vermilion Manor Nursing Home is under new ownership.

Changes are already occurring and its not the best for some employees.

For forty people, today is their last day of work as the new owners consolidate positions.

The new owner, FNR Healthcare Group, has promised to make two million dollars worth of upgrades to the home.

The county took out a line of credit to be sure all bills were paid but it seems that money was not needed.

County Board Chairman Gary Weinard says, "Our bank balance got to be quite small but we never had to exercise the line of credit.  So, that's disappeared.  As of today that's just a piece of paper laying on a desk somewhere."

That money goes back into to general fund.

A new sign is up and and the home is renamed Gardenview Manor.

Vermilion County will keep the books open to pay off bills that have yet to come in but the responsibility to run the home rests with the new owner.
