Parents React to Teacher Accused of Sexual Relations with Student
URBANA--An Urbana High School teacher is in jail tonight for allegedly having a sexual relations with a 16-year-old student.
We were the first to break this story at 6, and it continues.
Parents we talked to tonight reacting to the story saying they're shocked by this horrific news.
Tammy Bond, 45, was arrested earlier today at her home on the 1700 block of S. Prospect Avenue in Champaign.
We spoke with several teachers off camera who know her, who say they couldn't believe it.
We talked to parents on camera and they tell us they're disgusted.
The student's mother called police, after noticing for several months that her son was hanging out with Bond off of school grounds.
The mothers adds, he also got gifts and privileges from Bond.
The investigation started on Monday when police began looking into suspicious circumstances involving Bond and the student.
On Tuesday, Urbana Police and school officials got statements from people involved.
They also collected evidence including cell phones.
The school then suspended bond and gave us this statement--
"We will not tolerate unprofessional or inappropriate misconduct by any staff member."
WICD spoke with Bond's neighbors, who are also shocked, and said they knew her as a good and kind woman.
We knocked on Bond's door, but were told to go away.

The school district says Bond will not have contact with students, pending her termination.
Tonight Bond sits in the Champaign County Jail.
Bond is facing aggravated criminal sexual assault, her bond was set at $50,000.
