Thousands of Volunteers Kick Off National Volunteer Week

DANVILLE--More than 2,000 people in Champaign-Urbana helped kick off National Volunteer Week by lending a hand in dozens of projects, community wide.
Including some of the ABC Newschannel 15 crew who helped pack meals in the 146,000 meals for the Eastern Illinois Foodbank.
This specific project was held on the University of Illinois campus, and included many university students.
Also, many other service, community, and business groups joined in to help out.
Champaign Mayor Don Gerard says the response by all of today's volunteers is just symbolic of how strong the entire nation can be.
