Urbana PD and ISP Team Up for Weekend Road Safety Checkpoint

URBANA--Many area law enforcement agencies are cracking down on impaired drivers St. Patricks Day weekend.

Several local departments are stepping up patrols.

Early Saturday morning, the Urbana Police Department and Illinois State Police set up a roadside safety checkpoint.

The goal was to get as many impaired drivers off the road as possible.

Along the way, enstill a sense of confidence in the public that police are working to keep the roads safe.

The State Police, along with other departments, are asking drivers to rely on a sober driver if they plan to drink on this, or any weekend.
