City Crews Clearing Roads Overnight

CHAMPAIGN--Champaign Public Works crews will plow overnight to make sure all of the main and side roads get cleaned up.

Crews have been out since this morning prepping for this storm..

Tonight around 11, the second crew will come in, and will continue plowing overnight.

If you're traveling out there, make sure to give yourself plenty of time to get to where you're going.

If you see any crews, or emergency personnel out there, you're asked to give them plenty of room.

Public work officials said, they have have plenty of salt left over from last year's mild winter season.

Crews have up to 36 hours to clean the streets, starting with main roads, secondary ones, cul-de-sacs, and city sidewalks and parking lots.

Now they haven't activated their emergency snow routes, because of the warmer conditions.

However, we could see them activate the Sidewalk Snow Removal sometime tomorrow morning, but only if crews have cleared all roadways.

Public work reps, implement Sidewalk Snow Removal after a confirmed two inches of snow,or more is on the ground.

Property and business owners, will then have 48 hours to shovel their sidewalks, or they'll get fined.

ABC Newschannel 15's Marine Glisovic has the story.
