Pay It Forward
Hey there everyone. We're at Ronald McDonald House Charities
of central Illinois. I'm joined now by Ronald McDonald who's going to answer a
couple questions for us. I’m just kidding. We're here to Pay It Forward. I'm
going to talk a little bit first though to the executive director, Ms. Kelly
Thompson. Kelly, we're going to give this 5-hundred dollar check to Barb Kern,
one of your volunteers because we caught her doing good things. Tell me how
important she is to the Ronald McDonald House, her volunteer work.
"She is incredibly important to us. She has volunteered
for almost 25 years and so this is so exciting to be able to recognize the work
that she has done for this organization. She's just extremely important to
us," Thompson said.
Hi, Barb. I'm Shantel Middleton, and this is a 500-dollar
check just for you. It's from County Market. We're paying it forward because
you do so many good things for this community. Yes, you.
"I don't get 5-hundred. What are you? What are you
kidding me?" Kern said.
You get 5-hundred dollars.
"Well, I shouldn't get 5-hundred dollars. Oh, well it
goes to the House," Kern said.
It's whatever you would like to do with it.
"Oh my gosh. I'm like in shock," Kern said.
So now you have 5-hundred dollars you can spend at County
Market or Ronald McDonald House whatever you would like.
"I would like it for Ronald McDonald House," Kern
Tell me why you do what you do.
Well, because I love it. I have been here almost from the
beginning, and I just love the place. I mean it's such a good organization for
the families," Kern said.
When you do good things, you pay it forward; we pay it
forward, too. I'm Shantel Middleton in Springfield. We're going to send it back
