JAY-Z: PERFORMS AT CARNEGIE HALL
NEW YORK (AP) -- Add another accomplishment to Jay-Z's list: performing at Carnegie Hall. He performed more than two dozen hits there Monday night. Jay-Z was backed by an orchestra of 30-plus and a band that included Questlove of The Roots. He got a little emotional during the song "Glory," about his 1-month-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter. After the song, he said: "That was tough." He also gave shout-outs to some of those missed in music, from the Notorious B.I.G. to Aaliyah to Don Cornelius. Alicia Keys and Nas joined him onstage. The show was one of two shows for charity planned this week. Ticket sales will benefit the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation and the United Way of New York City.

CHRIS BROWN: GETS PROPS AS A RAPPER
NEW YORK (AP) -- Chris Brown is known pop singer. But he's getting his props as a rapper. Brown's hit single "Look at Me Now" was Billboard's number-one rap song of 2011 and it's nominated for best rap song and best rap performance at Sunday's Grammy Awards. The track features Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes. 50 Cent is convinced. He says Brown raps better than some rappers. And 50 Cent is not the only member of the hip-hop community who's impressed. Questlove of The Roots says Brown did a mixtape that really blew his mind. Questlove says he didn't know that was Brown rhyming.
SHERRI SHEPHERD: IF YOU'RE GONNA TRY ON CLOTHES, PUT THEM BACK ON THE RACK!!!!
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Sherri Shepherd has a pet peeve. She says: if you're gonna try on clothes at the store, put them back on the rack! Seems she's never gotten over her job working in the fitting room at a Marshalls store. She says she can't understand how a woman can take 12 items into a fitting room and then leave them on the floor like she was "raised in a cave." Shepherd says, to this day, every time she goes in a fitting room she picks up clothes and puts them back on hangers. In addition to her duties on "The View," Shepherd is co-starring in "One for the Money."

HOLLYWOOD WEEK ON "AMERICAN IDOL" IS SICKLY AND UNSTABLE
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Add vomiting and fainting to the mix during Hollywood Week on "American Idol." Executive producer Nigel Lythgoe (LITH'-goh) says most of the contestants from the East Coast this year didn't realize how dry Los Angeles is, and they didn't stay hydrated. He says contestant Simone Black fell off the stage, and Amy Brumfield, AKA "Tent Girl," brought a virus with her and it spread like wildfire. Hollywood Week starts tonight on "Idol."
"American Idol" executive producer Nigel Lythgoe says for Hollywood Week contestants are judged on harmonies and choreography, but that's not important for the rest of the competition. ((note length of cut))

SHAQUILLE O'NEAL: OK WITH KOBE BRYANT
NEW YORK (AP) -- Kobe Bryant has passed Shaquille O'Neal on the NBA career scoring list, and O'Neal says that's fine with him. Bryant topped his former Los Angeles Lakers teammate and moved into fifth place among NBA scorers in Monday's loss to the 76ers. O'Neal says he was never concerned with being the "best" Laker, only the most dominant on the court. He says, "I was that." O'Neal says playing with Bryant made up the best eight years of his life, contrary to their often fiery relationship as teammates. In points scored Bryant now trails Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- An icon of American history is now in wax at The President's Gallery by Madame Tussauds in Washington. Tubman's great-great-great-grand-nephew and great-great-grand-niece were there to see Tubman's statue join a collection of historical figures. The museum says it added the Tubman likeness in honor of Black History Month. It already has wax figures of Martin Luther King Junior, Rosa Parks, and others.

Lonnie Johnson suffered a stroke after a serious accident in 1969, and died the following year.
