They say, a man allegedly attempted to cut a female's throat during an argument.
Police responded to a call around noon, in the 200 block of North 10th Street, for a female who was stabbed.
After a short foot chase, police arrested 27-year-old Joshua Council, a few blocks west of the home.
He's charged with aggravated battery, and remains in the Coles County Jail tonight.
No word on the victim's condition.
