HOT-PINK JAIL UNIFORMS
GROVETOWN, Ga. (AP) -- Not so pretty in pink. That's the idea behind the new jail uniforms at the Grovetown, Georgia, lockup. Chief Gary Jones ordered the hot-pink uniforms for his male inmates. Jones says he wants to make sure his prisoners don't want to come back. Jones tells the Augusta Chronicle the inmates will be wearing their pink uniforms while picking up trash on local roads. He says he wants to people to drive by and say, "We never want to be in that position."
ELSBERRY, Mo. (AP) -- An eastern Missouri couple picked the wrong spot for their meth lab. Authorities in Lincoln County charge Samuel and Tina Payne were cooking meth on property owned by a sheriff's deputy. Authorities say Deputy Andy Kaimann saw the couple near an abandoned outbuilding on the property. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports Kaimann and a colleague noticed a chemical smell and found the lab.
PITTSBURGH (AP) -- It's a case of flipping for pot -- or rather a pot bust. Police in western Pennsylvania report finding a car that had flipped over and was abandoned. Indiana Township officers say the investigation led to 22-year-old Cody Pavlik. The Valley News Dispatch reports officers smelled pot at his home and found a pound and a-half of the illegal weed, along with nearly 32-grand in cash. According to authorities, Pavlik told officers he has been getting pot in the mail for two years. He now faces a number of charges, including felony possession with intent to deliver.
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- The Clarion Hotel and Casino off the Las Vegas Strip is expected to collapse. But it's nothing to worry about. The hotel is to be leveled in an early-morning February 10 implosion. The 200-room 12-story hotel has been known over the years as the Debbie Reynolds, Greek Isles, Paddlewheel, Royal Americana and Royal Inn. There have been 12 casino-hotel implosions in Sin City since 1993. The last one took down the New Frontier in November of 2007.
