I subscribe to a satellite television service, why can’t I receive WICD?

WICD is not currently carried by DirecTV or the Dish Network. Our sister station in Springfield, WICS-TV, is available so that you can watch any of the ABC network programming as well as syndicated programs such as Regis and Kelly or Dr. Phil. To receive WICD we encourage you to use an antenna which will allow you to receive Champaign-Danville local news and if you have an HD TV you can receive all the ABC Network programming that’s available in High Definition.

I’m trying to receive WICD with an antenna, which direction should I point it?

I subscribe to a Satellite Television service and use the HD receiver they provide to receive WICD HD with an antenna. When I look at the electronic guide for WICD-DT I do not see any specific programs listed it just says “Digital Program”. Why is this?

WICD broadcasts a listing of all of our programs as part of our digital signal. The HD receiver provided by the Satellite service does not use the electronic guide that we broadcast. Instead it takes the program listings from our analog channel and displays them for the digital. Because our analog channel is not carried on the satellite service there is no analog listing for it to display so it just defaults to a generic “Digital Program” listing. This is a limitation in the receivers provided by the Satellite Services.

Will WICD ever be carried on either Satellite service?

We are trying to workout a deal that would put WICD on both Dish Network and DirecTV.

What channel does WICD’s digital signal broadcast on?

The digital signal is broadcast on channel 41. Your Digital Receiver should automatically find it when you tell it to scan as long as your antenna is pointed in the correct direction. However it is possible that you may have to enter channel 41 the first time you try to tune it. Once your receiver finds it the display will show it as “15-1”
